i tried loreal 'very rich auburn' as well as 'rick auburn-red' but it didn't show up as MUCH as i'd like. it seems like it turned out with a hint of maroon/purple in it, which is cool and fine, but i'd like my hair to be more of a vibrant red.

and i usually use revlon/loreal b/c my hair is pretty strong and healthy and it just fails to absorb color easily =P

hmmmm, there are a lot of hair dyes, but usually i would just bleach my hair then dye it makes it more visible. there are called loreal colour rays, my friend tried the red one , and his hair turned very red but then it started fading away since he didnt use any special shampoo.

You have to use something that calls itself "intensive" or "true" red. To get a vibrant red with naturally black hair, you may have to bleach a tad. When I first dyed my naturally black hair, it came out a beautiful red, and was very noticeable. I used Dark and Lovely (I find African American products are always more vibrant...and I happen to be African American). In addition to being vibrant, it's a LOT better for your hair, and lasts quite a while. I also recently used Creme of Nature Intensive Red, and, while the extremely vibrant red won't be visible in your bathroom, it is VERY red in sunlight and extremely bright lighting (like in office buildings and schools). I got my stuff at Sally. Hope this helps.
The brands you use just don't work well. I only use them when I'm dyeing my hair brown or something, cause that seems to be the only thing they do well.

i am a certified cosmetologist.....try chi by farouk excellent product....ammonia free...oh my bad u would have to act like u are a student and go into cosmo prof...formally macon beauty...and get this dye....it is the best of the best...now you can go into a sally and get clairol...they are good also they sorta work like chi...but girl i know this because i am a colorist i do this all the time.....my hair is red yes red candy apple red...........that why u need for me to send you some chi....to get your hair right...thats only if you cant find a good satifaction ....yes u have to bleach your hair out with other product thats why i suggest the chi product because its not quite as harash on your hair as these other products out there all you woul have to do is email me.....

I think you need something stronger then the box dyes. I just did mine with Miss Clairol and 40 volume developer. Clairol has something called Clairol Torrids Hi-powered tint that I plan to try next time.
