How do I fix the highlighting job from hell?

I let a friend put blonde highlights in my hair and the end result was less than desireable. I wound up with splotches on the roots. We tried to cover the mess by dyeing my hair a reddish brown color and the end result was orange. I have heard that you can use color strippers like Loreal Color Zap to remove dye but I am scared of doing anything else to my hair. Has anyone used these products before?

I would honestly go to a hairdresser, the reason why you have spotches by your roots is because bleach reacts very well to heat and the heat from your head made the dye by the roots work a lot faster than on the rest of your hair. This is why that when and if you ever get it done professionally, the farthest up they apply it is usually 1 inch or so away from your scalp.

I've used Color Zap before, but the old school looking color remover with three ladies on a white and orange box works A LOT better. It's made by L'Oreal. You risk damaging your hair with this since you previously used a bleach product, so that's why I suggested to go to a professional.

Find a toner to lessen the drastic color change. I know this works extremely well with blonde highlights. Now might be the best time to go in the stylist and ask them to work their magic with a toner.

I would go to the hairdresser before you end up having to chop it all off because of all the damage fro the dyes.
