How long should I wait before redying my hair?

I dyed my hair a few months ago, it was black on the bottom and a medium auburn on the top. I bought Loreal Paris dye today to change colors. I wanted it black on the top, and rich auburn on the bottom. I dyed the bottom first, and it didn't show up at all. It just made the black a little bit lighter. I'm going to go and buy red dye specifically made for dark hair, but I was wondering how long I should wait before I put that in.

Haircolor cannot lighten haircolor. Unfortunately, you are going to have to go to a salon to have the black color removed from your hair. Even if you use a red color specifically for people with darker hair it will not work to lift "artificial" black haircolor. The black haircolor has to be removed first before it can be colored another color.

Be careful, if it's loreal hi color it won't come out with bleach. I bleached my hair three (yes, THREE) times and all I got orange, literally the color of a carrot.

I finally asked a professional why it wouldn't bleach and apparently it was because the red was for dark hair and thusly stained my hair.

Though if you dyed your hair a few months ago, it should be good to dye now =]

well you can go ahead and dye it but your hair probably wont be all the same color. usualyy with black you half to buy stuff that strips out the color. just try leaving the end until the last 5-10 minutes. in a couple of days use a hair mask or some type of hair repair. aussie has a couple and there cheap.
