Will black hair dye "stain" my hair after it washes out?

i'm thinking of using a 24-wash color like clairol or loreal, but what brand would you recommend?

If you get a temporary dye, it may not completely come out. It may take time depending on what kind you got and what your natural hair color is.

I dyed my hair jet black in high school (it was very light brown) and it was hell trying to get it back to the natural color. It cost me over $70.00 at a salon and I ended up with stripes of blonde and black in my hair. Make sure this is the color you really want (if it's a permanent dye)..

If you do use permanent and your hair is light, keep in mind that you have to keep touching up your roots, otherwise it looks terrible!! Unless you have it professionally dyed, its difficult to do on your own. I know I ended up with dye on my skin and it was very hard to get out.. I had to walk around like a moron for about a week until it eventually faded out..

i've never been able to find a semi-permanent black. most black dyes are permanent, and in my light brown hair, the black fades out to an auburn/purple color.

Yes it will deposit color on your hair, but it will eventually fade- be sure to use something that is amonia free!

If it is more than 2 shades darker than your natural hair it definitely will leave a little something behind.

i think loreal is much better then clairol n it works.

Yes! I am blonde and have had a hell of a time getting rid of darker temporary colors. I even used those spray on hair colors on Halloween, and they stained my hair.

I dyed my hair black once, and was stuck with the skunk look as my hair grew out. Stripping the color wasn't 100% effective and I ended up looking like a calico cat.

I don't recommend it.
