Best Hi-lift haircolor?

I'd like to lighten my light/medium brown hair using a hi-lift color. Loreal Hicolor seems good, but the only "ash" shade seems to be "sandstone," but it doesn't list the base on the box so i'm not sure. Anyone know of any blonde hicolor dyes that come in ash blonde? Please only respond if you know the answer to this question, no "go to a salon, please.

Also, do i necessarily have to use a "hilift" color to get lift? Hi color uses a 30 vol developer. COuldn't i just choose any light ash blonde color and use a 30 vol to achieve the same amount of lift? THANKS

I have used Clairol Torrids High lift shades with 40 volume peroxide with great success! Be sure to get a toner though depending upon what is on your hair now and how light you want it. You can get it from Sally's Beauty Supply.

to be fair if u are gonna lighten ur hair - best to go to a salon to do so as home kits dont usually contain enough level of peroxide if ur not a hairdresser - mistakes r gonna happen.

takes a mix of knowledge and the right hair colour to make it perfect.
