Hair dye question?? Please help!?

My step daughter had blonde hair. Around Thanksgiving she decided she wanted dark brown hair. She used the stuff that is supposed to wash out in 28 days. Well, of course this turned it to a reddish brown color. All of this was done without my knowledge. We were supposed to get her senior pictured done that weekend but I told her that I was not having them taken, when it would not even look like her. Sooo, we decided to wait until it washes out, it hasnt. She tried a Loreal stripper and dye that was golden blonde over the weekend, now it is bleach blonde from the roots to about middle of her head and the rest is orange. What should we do? Would dyeing it again damage her hair?

Hair dye question?? Please help!?

Please, don't do any more dyeing at home! Obviously it isn't working. Strippers and home dyes can really damage the hair, as you have seen.

You should take her to a professional, reputable hair salon (don't go somewhere cheap or unprofessional - you'll be throwing your money away). Have them dye it a neutral colour - probably a mid that will neutralise and cover the orange. It is worth considering getting it cut shorter, too, so that it will grow out quicker.

She can pay you back for the cost by doing chores or a weekend job if need be.

Let this be a lesson to her not to play around with home dye kits again! Some things should be left to the professionals.

she needed to use a toner. That removes brassy tones.Go to the beauty supply store, like a Sallys, ask for help.

I would suggest going to a salon and getting a colour correction done (preferably by someone who is an expert)

It maybe costly but it could save you alot of grief

I think you need professional advice. You don't want to totally ruin her hair.

It might. i dont know wat kind of hair she has but if you dye it too much or it has a lot of chemicals put it in will turn white from over processing.

28 day wash out dyes are not really suitable for extreme colour change in hair. e.g blonde to brown or vice versa..,

you need to use a toner for the lightest blonde hair, sometimes it will say "ash blonde". the toner sould be blue or purple in colour and leaving this on should neutralise some of the yellow/orange tones... (don't leave it on to long or it will hve a blue-y tinge)

for the sake of the photo you could dye it a permanent deep brown all over or use a lightener on the ends to make it all one colour. Lighter blonde ones rather than golden blonde should lift some of the darker tones...You might need to go to a salon for advise if it is really bad after using the toner...

if it's longer than 4 weeks it won't damage alot she should use deep condition
