Hair dye when pregnant?

I dyed my hair yesterday with Loreal Natural Match (ammonia free) hair dye. This is my first pregnancy (8 weeks) and didn't think anything of it. My blonde roots were nearing 2 inches, so I went back to my natural brown color. I read the box and didn't see any warnings for pregnant women.

Now a few hours went by and I start worrying so I googled info about dying hair when you are pregnant and keep reading different viewpoints. ALL of my pregnancy books say its okay. Called dr's office and they say it's perfectly fine. Still worried!! What do you think about it?

pregnancy books (which are most often written by mothers) and your doctor is telling it's fine so relax. I dyed my hair during all of my pregnancies and my kids are healthy

If the dr is telling you its fine, why are you still worried?

Hon, It's fine as long as you are in a well vented area. It wont hurt the baby.

It's theoretically possible that the chemicals in the hair dye could seep through your scalp and enter your bloodstream, cross the placenta and reach your baby. No one can prove it, though. If the roots bother you, then keep them touched up. I personally dyed my hair during pregnancy a few times, but now I'm too busy for hair color! Just be careful--your raging hormones may (rarely) cause your dye to turn your hair an unexpected color. More than one pregnant woman has been spotted with orange hair!

I had never heard about the hair dye concerns with pregnancy until after both my kids were born. I dyed my hair multiple times (counting root jobs) with both pregnancies, and my kids are just fine.

It is safe to dye your hair during pregnancy. Don't fret, especially since your doctor is saying it's alright.

If it makes you worried, than don't do it. Why add unwanted stress?
