Leather Sofa Staining!!!?

The problem is that my grandma dyed her hair using "Loreal". But she sat on the new leather sofa when it was still wet. We discovered it about half an hour later so we SCRUBBED it. But, cappicino color leather sofa, the color came a little off. We didn't know what to do so we used non-acetone nail polish remover which completely removed the color (1-inch in diameter). Then, my stupid mom put NAIL POLISH ON THE part where the color came off!!!! So now we have nail polish on our sofa...which is about 1 inch in diameter!!1

What to do...please help...quick points....

Leather Sofa Staining!!!?

I have worked on similar problems several times so give grandma and mum a little break. The use of "cappacino" is the concern here as it probably means a mottled leather ( the more natural looking finished leathers that have a base tone and then a secondary color applied over it) this is advanced color matching and I would recommend being very choosy who you let try resolve. My company makes restore kits, but for this I would think the application really is not for a novice. Get reference from the "better" furniture stores in your area as to who they use; this is how alot of my clients found me.

Hope this helps

Leather Sofa Staining!!!?

You really need to call a leather technician to have a look at this problem. Using lots of different things and now ending up with nail varnish will have caused problems. Also depending on the type of leather you have will determine how much can be done.

if you are in the UK call LTT on 01423 881027 who have a network of trained leather technicians to do this type of work

Leather Sofa Staining!!!?

your best bet is to call out a tech from where you purchased the sofa. they have matching dyes to repair accidents like this. if you try something yourself, don't think it will give you the result your looking for. pay the money and have it fixed right, and learn from the experience.

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

I've used many shampoos and conditioners over the years and it seems like after a couple months go by (sometimes longer, sometimes shorter) they stop working. What I want in a shampoo is one that smells great (and the smell lasts), does what it says it's going to do or close to that, and is affordable. I have medium length dry/damaged color treated hair. After quite a while of browsing and comparing (I was stuck between Tresemme, Sunsilk, Aussie, Loreal Vive, SAMY, and Dove.. I've used Dove before and the reason I love it is cause the smell, and the smell lasts but I really wanted something new) I ended up choosing Tresemme and on the bottle it says "colour" and that it has Vitamin E in it, for color treated hair, etc. I also bought a Tresemme volumizing mousse.

If you have used Tresemme, please tell me what you think of it? Are you still using it? How long did you use it for before it seemed to lose its effect? Comments and criticism on the brand please? Thanks!

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

I still firmly believe the good stuff is best, go to your local salon for advice - they have tons of good products.

Also, if you have minerals in your water or very hard water (city or well water), try the Malibu 2000 products (Trade Secret) such as the Well Water Action shampoo %26amp; conditioner. There are also treatments for buildup removal.

I really like Tigi Catwalk Honey %26amp; Oatmeal shampoo %26amp; conditioner, but really it depends upon your hair issues.

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

I am a liscenced stylist...and I have used tressume forever...love it...use the conditioner in moderation if you have fine hair

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

ok so i thought i was the only one who's hair did that.. yes i have used tresseme! it does the same thing to me though.. after a couple months it stops working! i am down to the same brands that you are ... LOL although i use pantene also.. which i love the smell of but after a couple months i get build up... what i have been doing is every 2 weeks i switch.. i keep a stock of the ones i like and switch.... i have really long natural blonde hair... so its hard to find a good shampoo that doenst cost a million dollars a bottle.... good luck!

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

Tresemme is a great product thats what they use in the salon ive been using it for a year and keeps my hair healty and smells great all the time dove is great aswell thought it takes the natural oils out of the hair were tresemme keeps the natural oils in

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

Tresemme is yucky, it smells good, but makes my hair feel like straw. Honestly the best conditioner in the world is Head %26amp; Shoulders. It's sometimes hard to find just the conditoner, but it's worth the search!!!! I work at CVS and it's the only thing I recomend to my customers.

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

I've been using Tresemm'e for a while now, and I love it.

I buy the bottle with the blue label-- for normal hair.

I've also tried the orange label, (I think that's the one for color treated hair) and I didn't like it. Made my hair feel like straw.

But, the blue one is the best.

Don't bother with Sunsilk... its crap. Smells alright, but it did nothing for the manageability of my hair.

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

All products will eventually lose its effect becuase your hair simply gets used to it. To avoid this I usually have 2 different sets of shampoos %26amp; conditioners and alternate every week or 2 between both. I have tried Tresemme before but its a pretty cheap product (quality-wise that is). From all the shampoos I've ever tried the one that smells the best is made by Victoria Secret -- they have an array of smells to choose from for all types of hair. I believe they are about $8 a bottle (remember you can't go too cheap, you get what you pay for:)

Oh, I realize from this screen name u probably think I'm a guy but this is my boyfriends account!!!

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

Actually, you should change your shampoo regularly anyway. I always have at least three different kinds of shampoo and conditioner in my shower. I have used Tresemme before and loved the smell but it didn't really work for me for that long...I didn't re-purchase it after that. I love Charles Worthington, Samy, Pantene and Aussie but, my absolute favorite is Gilchrist %26amp; Soames Spa Therapy shampoo and conditioner-the smell is absolutely awsome and it lasts! (Gilchrist can be found at Gilchrist%26amp;Soames.com) I have also found that if you don't dry your hair completely, your shampoo smell lasts longer! (Let it air dry whenever you can.) Hope this helps...good luck!

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

I don't like it. It made my head itchy lol I use Aussie and i really like it and it smells good :) But every ones head is different so good luck in finding something you like :)

Tresemme (people who have used it)?

I have used Tresemme for a couple of years now and still love it. It smells great and I love that the conditioner is light and doesn't weigh my hair down. I use the kind for damaged hair and it seems to still work after all this time! If you have wavy or curly hair that you want to keep intact after getting out of the shower, I suggest trying Tresemme Restore Conditioning Leave-In Creme. It's really light, smells great, doesn't make your hair frizzy, and I can put it in damp/wet hair and it still looks good at the end of the day! Hope this helped!

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

hi! i just got my hair highlighted yesterday. i brought my own kit from loreal, but the color didn't do anything, so they had to use the one from the salon in the end. the girl, who did it was quite slow, so one side is lighter than the other. i can deal with that, that happens, its highlights. i wanted to ask you, what shall i use, so the highlights don't wash out even lighter, i wouldn't want it lighter than it is now - speciallt the lighter side!

my hair is medium brown and the gihglights are kinda caramel color on one side, one part is slightly lighter than that - blond-ish.

thank you so much!

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

I wouldn't be happy if I had it done at the salon and it was different colours.

You need to go back to the salon and speak to the Manager.

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

Use a color protecting shampoo, like biolage.

If it gets too light, put some toner on it for a few minutes. That will bring the blonde down

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

i would dye your hair all one shade so that it is all even...then get the highlights professionally put in. DONT make them look too fake though!!!!!

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

I would suggest you simply condition your hair really well so the color will not fade. If you let the conditioner to stay on your hair for about 3-5 (sometimes 10) minutes you will be fine. One thing is you can never over condition your hair.

Hope this helps

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

With the highlight kit you bought it should have came with a conditioner. That maintains the color.

Or you can buy shampoo that's made especially for treating color hair.

I recommend you buy this at a salon.

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

Use a color protecting shampoo and conditioner. Also, dont go out in the sun too much. Sun dulls the color. Do regualr deep conditioning treatments.... Also you got ur hair haighlighted and colored, so dont wash your hair for atleast 48 hours straight. let the color lock in. Secondly, oil ur hair regualrly after that, keep it overnight and then wash it off. Dont forget to appy a leave in conditioner.

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

Your highlights won't wash out lighter, but they will get lighter. When you use a high lift process you open the cuticle and strip your natural pigment out.And unfortunately it just keeps getting lighter because the cuticle stays partly open.I would suggest toning it a shade darker on the lighter pieces to bring it all to caramel. Also Heat ,sun and minerals in your water will add to the lightening process.

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

Try Clairol Colorseal, I use it and it works great! http://www.clairol.com/niceneasy/colorse...

Hi girls, need advice after highlighting?

Go back to the salon and have them redo the darker side, it shouldn't take long since it already had been highlighted. Then have them put a toner over ALL of it so its even and not too light. You can choose the color of the toner, basically a toner is just a really light hair color with very little peroxide, and sometimes none at all. It removes any purple or orange "brassy" tones that sometimes happen where bleach is left on too long or not long enough. As far as your highlights washing out lighter, the only way that could happen is if your stylist already put on a toner and the toner fades out with normal washing. Use a color protecting shampoo and conditioner such as Redken (it comes in a red bottle) or Biolage. Good luck.

Has anyone tried Clairol Brass Free Dye?

I have a golden blonde color to my hair and I usually use Loreal or Clairol...Sometimes they leave my hair a little brassy so I try and use a color with more ash to it, but then I dont like the results...has anyone tried the new Brass Free product? Did you notice a difference? Where can I buy it?

Has anyone tried Clairol Brass Free Dye?

You will absolutely love the new Brass Busters. It's a special shade collection within Miss Clairol Permanent Haircolor that has been specifically formulated to cut brassiness.

You can pick up Brass Busters at your local Sally Beauty Supply store, or any other beauty supply store that carries Miss Clairol.

To find a Sally near you, visit http://www.sallybeauty.com and click on the store locator link.

The Miss Clairol shades specifically formulated to cut out brassiness are:

30D Flaxen blonde (level 9 - very light blonde)

32D Moonhaze (level 6 - dark blonde)

34D Hazy Mist (level 7 - medium blonde)

36D Moonlit Brown (level 5 - lightest brown)

37D Iced Brown (level 4 - light brown)

42D Moongold (level 7 - medium blonde)

46D Chestnut Brown (level 4 - light brown)

Pick a level no more than 3 levels lighter than your natural, for the best results. If you want your hair lighter, I recommend that your base color is no more than 3 levels lighter than your natural. After you complete the base color, add some ash highlights to get an even lighter/more dimensional look.

Best wishes %26amp; Happy Coloring.

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

I have loreal true color match, but i feel like it covers my face too much, even when i mix it with moisturizer. I have naturally dry skin and i'm trying to cover scars from old acne. Also, it makes the hair on my face really visible......even though i barely have any. HeLP?

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

you should try mac. i had this problem too. my make-up would also show but then i bought this foundation and it works great! remember to put a good moisturizer before putting foundation don't mix it. and for acne scars put a heavy concealer and then put the foundation over it. thats what i do and it covers them up pretty well. =] hope it works! and if that don't work try getting those little sponges to put foundation on and put water in it and squeeze it out; and then put foundation on it, and dab it on your face.

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

Lancome

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

You should try N.Y.C. cover up powder. It's called "Traslucent" and it looks like you are hardly wearing any makeup at all, but it hides things very well.

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

caryl baker cover up.... best stuff ever

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

I lovee sheer cover make up! They had an infomercial on it, and it works really well. Celebs use it too, and it blends in so nicely

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

mac quick fix powder is the best in my opinion. the mac workers will find the perfect shade for you. dont use the pad it comes with buy a powder brush that way it uses less and spreads more evenly on your face.

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

Bare Essentials is beautiful...I love it!

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

estee lauder double wear sounds like a mask doesn't feel like one 35.00 dollars a bottle last longer and you will thank me.

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

mac products work great

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

Revlon color stay

Merle Norman

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

BARE MINERALS!!!! i am absolutely obsesssssed with it!! it covers up my old acne scars perfectly and it isn't cakey or anything. I am tellling you. . .TRY IT!! it's the best thing on earth. Start off with the starter-kit. . .it's a little expensive (about $60) but it comes with the brushes and everything. The foundation itself is $18-$25. . .Please try it. I promise you will love it :)

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

I really like MAYBELLINE Dream Matte Mousse it looks so natural!

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

hmm i would try mary kay tinted moisturizer and then top it off with mary kay's loose powder (apply with a sponge)

I use mary kays medium coverage foundation and the loose powder and it works great for me... its sounds like you need a foundation that works more like a moisturizer.. but if you use a powder on top of it then it'll give you the coverage you need.

If you just apply a bit of powder on top of your foundation it'll really help make your face appear more flawless. Most girls overdo this part and end up looking really funky... the secret is just to apply a little to give a matte finish. (And after that I usually apply a shimmer powder to my cheek bones.) :)

contact a consultant and get a free facial... try out the products and find the color that matches you best...

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

In covering old acne scars you should use a light matte mousse type. It's goes on light and fills in problem areas. Better yet, it isn't shiny!

Maybelline.

Does anyone know of a foundation that looks natural and not powdery when dry?

MAC tinted moustrizer its!! great and it looks totally natural it never gets powdery and its not to thick. ive never tried anything else since i started using it cuz it works so well. i like other MAC foundation but some are to thick and it feels liek im wearing a mask. i love MAC they have the best makeup ever and its really good quality and compared to some makeup its really cheap!!

Can someone tell me...?

Ok the Loreal Paris Color moouse Color Pulse.. i lost the directions and i think it sid to put it in when your hair is wet am i right?

Can someone tell me...?

don't know. but that stuff is crap.

Can someone tell me...?

well i would try bolth and whatever one works best for you just use it that way!

Can someone tell me...?

You can call the drugstore you bought it from or any one that carries it, and they'll just check it out for you over the phone. I've done that before!

Can someone tell me...?

I don't remember what it said, but a good tip is if your hair is darker than dirty blond, don't use it, even if it says it works on brown hair. It will not work. At all.

Big mistake?

i just colored my hair and it is way way way too dark. I look goth or something. I tried applying tide to lighten it and that didnt work. I want to use Loreal's le tru brunettes hair lightener b/c i've used it before with great results. How long should i wait to use that? my hair dosent get damaged easily. It is really strong, but i want to be safe and i dont want it to break off. What do you think?

Big mistake?

hey... same thing happened to me about 2 months ago. The first week of being darker than I had planned, took some getting used to. Putting more chemicals in your hair will weaken it and cause split ends and drying. I didn't use any other products, instead, I just did shampoos and conditioning every other day and the color began to fade. Actually, about 4 wks. after, the color it faded to was close to what I was hoping it would look like. Over the counter color kits don't last very long really.... 6 wks into it, the color is never the same anyway.... just wait it out, but if you can't..... go to a salon for help....

Big mistake?

you should at least wait a month

Big mistake?

well don't ever put black or dark co lours on your face then your skin will look whiter and you will turn into snow white!just don't worry about it!

Big mistake?

Do some deep conditioning... maybe even go in for hot oil treatment. But i agree, wait some time before you try it again... and go into have it done. They have stuff to take the colour out.

Big mistake?

Color OOps!!!

http://www.bizrate.com/haircare/oid53155...

Big mistake?

The hair colors always rinse out by the 5th washing .So just wait and it will lighten right up.The store hair color is never that good like a salon. You have nothing to worry about.

I need help doing my hair?

I'm going to use the Loreal Colour Rays (Fushia Flash) soon, but I'm thinking about doing it without my mom's help. I'm just not sure it'll turn out since I can't see the back of my head. Any ideas of coloring effects I can do without having to really look at the back of my head and get things too even?

I need help doing my hair?

you can just kind of slap it on in a random way and hope it turns out good, that's what i'd do, but i'd mess it up, haha. or for the back, you can do individual sections piece by piece, i really don't think you'd mess it up unless you tried to.

I need help doing my hair?

Sorry, not of the top of my mind. However, Google is my every-time problem solver.

I need help doing my hair?

Well, I suppose you could do a bi level color. Pull up the top of your hair and color the fuschia just underneath, or vice versa. Good luck. Be sure you really really want that color cuz 1, loreal is the harshest on your hair. 2. fuschia fades to pink and can be quite overwhelming at first. 3. mom isnt going to KILL you. LOL. Enjoy !

I need help doing my hair?

you should just go to a salon to get it done.

i'm not saying this just because i'm a stylist.

like that woman said, l'oreal is so harsh on your hair. at the salon, we use much better products so that the colour looks nicer, is even, and you end up more satisfied.

think about it - if you mess it up, you might end up at the salon to fix it anyway - and l'oreal is extremely hard to fix.

but if you work the product in, like if you were sudsing up your shampoo in the shower, you should be able to get it all.

or you could ask a girlfriend to help?

I need help doing my hair?

You don't say what your natural haircolor is, but if you're going to be making a "radial change" without any help, you'd be better off using some shampoo in the product and shampooing it in. Leave the product in your hair according to their directions. You'll only be diluting the product a little but making it easier to spread on those areas you can't see.

You could also do just highlights around your face. Wrap the color saturated hair strands with foil.

If I were you, I wouldn't go for too much of a change in color; you'll have far less maintenance when it comes time to do it again.

Good Luck!

Blue tinged Blonde?

My friend colors my hair blond for me when I need my roots done, I always use the same color. Sometimes myhair gets a light blue hue that takes a few washings to get out,, is there anyway to avoid this or rinse it out? I use Loreal Ultra light Ashe Blonde, my hair is light brown natuarally.

Blue tinged Blonde?

i havent heard of thisd before x

go to the chemist where you bought the dye or a hairdresser as they are more likely to know

Blue tinged Blonde?

blue is used in lighter shades of ash to take your hair to blonde. garnier fructris has good light light blonde colors. there probably isn't a lot of natural red in your hair is there? the blue is used to cancel out the red, and if you don't have a lot of red... it's just depositing the blue. try and find one without the ash in it. that will solve your problem!

Tough desision...YOU PICK?

I am looking to give my hair more of an edge so I am going to use Loreal Paris color rays but cant decide what color to use....red rays or ******* flash??!! help and I might use ur desision go to http://www.lorealparis.ca/en/haircolor/i...

to see the two color and all 5 colors!! =D

Tough desision...YOU PICK?

******* flash! I think red highlights have already been done a lot. ******* highlights are something different, that's for sure. Just make sure you are really positive you want to highlight your hair -- highlighting/dying your hair does cause damage. The decision is ultimately up to you! I hope you like whatever you pick.

Tough desision...YOU PICK?

it really depends on what your hair color is now. if your hair is brown, try red. if your hair is blond, try fuscia. trust me, the fuscia in blonde hair looks really cool.

Tough desision...YOU PICK?

omg DO NOT DO YOUR OWN HIGHLIGHTS IF YOU HAVE DARK HAIR...IT WILL TURN ORANGE.I PROMISE..IF ITS LIGHT..HIGHLIGHT AWAY...ID SAY RED CUZ ITS MORE VERSATILE...******* IS NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A HAIRCOLOR..ITS SUPPOSED TO BE A CRAYON COLOR.

Tough desision...YOU PICK?

red's been done too many times...

be different!

Red Rays or ******* Flash?? check out the website!! U PICK AND IT DOES MATTER!! =D?

I am looking to give my hair more of an edge so I am going to use Loreal Paris color rays but cant decide what color to use....red rays or ******* flash??!! help and I might use ur desision go to http://www.lorealparis.ca/en/haircolor/i...

I know I asked this question already, so I decided to give it a better subject name so more ppl would answer

Red Rays or ******* Flash?? check out the website!! U PICK AND IT DOES MATTER!! =D?

all five shades are awesome....but i guess red rays would look the best....if u have a very fair complexion, u can go for blonde blow out or way out white....

I love my grey hair but I'm having a hard time getting rid of the yellow, any suggestions?

Some of the haircolor manufactors use to offer coloring to cover the yellow without coloring the grey but I can't find it anymore. Loreal no longer offers this product, so I'm looking for an "old timey" remedy.

I love my grey hair but I'm having a hard time getting rid of the yellow, any suggestions?

In cosmetology we learned about a shampoo that is the color blue, that conteracts the yellow. It's also the color they use to put in some laundry soaps to whiten the whites. Avon use to sell a shampoo for this purpose. Also I have seen shampoos that do this at drugstores. The yellow in your hair is just what the envirment does to your hair.

I love my grey hair but I'm having a hard time getting rid of the yellow, any suggestions?

color the rest of it grey

I love my grey hair but I'm having a hard time getting rid of the yellow, any suggestions?

I would visit a really good hair salon and ask them if they have a product for you to use at home that would take care of this.

I love my grey hair but I'm having a hard time getting rid of the yellow, any suggestions?

Don't know if you can find it there...but Genson Violet. Think you can get it from the nearest chemist. It's not expensive... then put 2 small drops in your bottle shampoo 380ml. Then shake bottle before each wash and leave in for 5 MINUTES...if nothing happens ad 1 more drop to the bottle.

Remember this stuff is Intens Violet, so don't over do the drops...Enjoy

Dark brown, went dirty bright yellow blond, trying to get pretty carmaly color, like jess alba, hairco

dyed with bleach highlighting kit, put in loreal dark ash blond to get rid of brassiness, it worked, but noe left with dull, dirty yellow hair, i still like the inital blond just wondering what to do now, to add some oomf, dont want lighter, more darker carmaly blond, i think. have brown eyes and tanned skin, want like jessicaalbacolor, any sugg? dont want to go to proff.

Dark brown, went dirty bright yellow blond, trying to get pretty carmaly color, like jess alba, haircolor to use

1) Salon recommended before you do anything

2) If you won't go to the salon, at least read up on hair at Hair Boutique they have coloring, Do's %26amp; Dont's and Hair Talk forums. Blonde hair can be challenging to fix bc it might turn green or dull.

Dark brown, went dirty bright yellow blond, trying to get pretty carmaly color, like jess alba, haircolor to use

Go to a professional! never use box dye because you neve know what you're going to get. Go see your hairstyleist they'll know what to do and how to fix what you've done to your hair

Dark brown, went dirty bright yellow blond, trying to get pretty carmaly color, like jess alba, haircolor to use

I have naturally dark brown/black hair as well and went golden/yellow blonde, but just recently darkened to a caramel/honey color like Jessica Albas. I would highly recommend you going to a salon, though. I wouldn't trust at-home kits to get that kind of color.

Dark brown, went dirty bright yellow blond, trying to get pretty carmaly color, like jess alba, haircolor to use

Anytime you want to pin point a color do not do it yourself it will never turn out. Especially if you're trying to match someone elses color. Chances are pretty good that they get their hair done professionally. That means if it is a color you want that's what you need to do. Take a picture into a local salon of the color you are trying to get, and go from there. Good luck and stop dying it by yourself!

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

This ones a bit tricky... I bought a bottle of loreal classic salon red and the only directions it says is "mix with 2 oz of 20 to 30 volume developer." I only have 40 volume, but im not really worried about that (unless someone thinks i should be... haha)..

how long do i leave this color on?

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

This is when a strand test comes in handy! Put some on a small section of your hair and keep checking it every 5 minutes or so until you get your desired level. Then use that time when you finish your entire head. Since you have 40 volume, it will take faster to get your desired level so leaving it on as long as you would with a 20 volume will only damage your hair. There is really no 'average' time to leave color on hair, everybodys hair takes different to color!

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

Usually when I dye my hair the bottle says 20-30 minutes

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

Usually 20-30 minutes.

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

leave it in for 20 min., then put in on the roots, and leave it on for an additional 10 min.

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

depending on depth of colour required no longer than 45 mins about half hour is the norm for any brand

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

Dying your hair is something you do when you make your hair darker, lightening is the term when making your hair lighter with out bleach. 40 volume developrer is a pretty high volume to use, it will lighten when used on any color hair %26amp; may damage when left on too long or mis-used.

To answer you correctly I really need to know the color of your hair, are you naturally a dark brunette who colors your hair red? do you currently have dark roots with already colored ends? If you are light haired and going darker to a red then you should really use 10 volume or at maximum of 20 volume. 10 volume will lift the cuticle of the hair just enough to deposit color. 20 volume will lighten (just a little first 1-2 shades) then it will deposit the color. No need to leave on more than 20 - 30 minutes it will stop oxidizing it self. Using 40 volume will dry your hair and potientally make it brittle or break off if you do not use it correctly.

You can dilute you 40 volume with bottled or distilled water 1/2 %26amp; 1/2 to make 20 volume

To make 10 volume useing 40 measure 1/4 developer to 3/4 botteled or distilled water.

If you do not have botteled or distilled water put a pan on the stove and boil a small pan of water, let it cool before mixing with developer.

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

well it depends on how vibrant you want the color to be. I just did mine for the first time ever at home the other day and i left it in for about 10 - 15 minutes - the longer it was in the brighter the color it turned out to be

I want to dye my hair, but the bottle doesnt say how long to leave it on.?

I don't know, I have never dyed my hair. But congrats on the decision to go with RED hair. I hereby grant you honorary redhead status. =)

If i dye my hair natural black will ir turn out jet black?

i want it to be really really dark brown or a soft black but not jet black, so should i use a "soft black" or a "dark brown" color? thanks. also i want it to last for a long time so should i use semi perm like clairol natual instincts or a permamneat like loreal natural match? thanks so much!

If i dye my hair natural black will ir turn out jet black?

don't dye it any color with the name "black" in it. It will look unnatural. I did it and it was hell trying to get my hair back to my lovely esspresso brown color. If you like the deep rich colors go with a dark ash brown. It's a more cool color and will get rid of (if you have any) red tones in the hair.

best of luck!

If i dye my hair natural black will ir turn out jet black?

when i dyed my hair black it wasn't to dark but to get a dark black use blue black but since you don't want it to dark dye it just normal black

If i dye my hair natural black will ir turn out jet black?

Do a deep brown, no black. Black is unforgiving if you don't like it. Permanent will obviously last longer but if this is the first time for this color, I would go semi in case you do not like it.

If i dye my hair natural black will ir turn out jet black?

It all depends on your hair color now.

If i dye my hair natural black will ir turn out jet black?

Well normally I would say use dark brown but I've had some friends who have died their hair and it always turned out lighter than they expected. One of my friends wanted a black color that turned out brown. I would use soft black. The product you use I don't think will matter because you are going to have to dye it to keep up with the roots. Good luck:)

If i dye my hair natural black will ir turn out jet black?

im asian and when i dye my hair black i use a level 3 dark brown. it doesnt come out brown at all, i get a nice natural looking black.

What's the best PERMENANT HAIR DYE?

I'm a meduim brunette with caramel hightlights and I want a SOLID brunette/red color.. what's the best?? (Best= In Price, Time Lasting, %26amp;%26amp; NOT TESTED ON ANIMALS -like loreal- )

What's the best PERMENANT HAIR DYE?

I also don't use products tested on animals either. Revlon has some great home colour kits such as their High Dimension that has lots of shades to choose from. The price is really good and the color is rich looking and makes your hair feel sleek and look shiny. I feel like I'm writing a commercial :)

What's the best PERMENANT HAIR DYE?

Garnier, they have a nice line of reds.Torrids by Clairol does also.

LOreal kids shampoo?

Loreal Hi-light styliste????

I am 11, and my mom said she will highlight my hair, because my sister is getting highlights in the salon, and she has a highlight kit to use. It's L'oreal Hi-light Styliste, and it's golden honey color. To you think I should do this? I'm not doing it myslef, my mom is doing it for me. Would it look good on me or turn orange???

Pics!

Loreal Hi-light styliste????

Your hair already looks pretty straw colored. I would set the highlight kit aside until you're a little older. No reason to mess up your hair color now when it already looks like it has natural highlights.

Loreal Hi-light styliste????

Well, from the looks of the photo you already have hair that looks like golden honey color.

Hairdressers/Hairstylists HELP with my haircolor?!?

i been tryin to figure out what to do about this haircolor and i have not been able to get the exact answer that i want, please i need your help, i previously color my hair a chocolate brown from loreal excellence in feb, and then i dyed it in march a praline color or cinnamon stick garnier nutrisse but i live in dubai uae, so the haircolor names are a little different in english it says praline on the box and in arabic they wrote cinnamon stick and (chestnut) so im confused, when i color it this color it did not look like the box, its still a brownish with some reddish brownish tones in the sun, but latley ive been using the garnier color last shampoo/conditioner and its making it a little lighter, i found the color that i had when i first got married which is koleston 2000 from wella and its a light chestnut color and i want to color it in may, becuz in june i am leaving on vacation to see family, i just want to know can i put it on top of the color i have now?

Hairdressers/Hairstylists HELP with my haircolor?!?

if the new color is lighter then the first color then the answer is no, color cant lift color. You will have to bleach it or use a hair stripper on it first to lighten it, then apply the new lighter color. Hope this helps

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

i used it 2 days ago. and no everytime i take a shower, the water (when i wash it) stills turns a little purple. and also when i wipe my hair with a towel after i take my shower, the towel turns into a light purplish color! its not that purple but it is annoying. its been about 2 days now. i need tips. will it always be like this? how do u make it go away?

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

never heard of that

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

sounds like you need to keep washing your hair. Keep washing till you have no more color

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

It is just residual dye that wasn't rinsed out all the way to begin with. It will stop. Rinse, rinse, rinse.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

Unfortunately, that hair dye will do that for about a week. But the upside to that is....the dye lasts longer than others.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

Use Head n Shoulders to get the excess off. It works!

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

When I had died my hair black, it did that.

It will stop probably in a few days, just be patient.

It's just getting rid of all the extra colour no longer clinging to your hair.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

When I use to dye my hair I would always use a bad towel for a few days after. You might not have rinsed your hair very well. Your hair should stop bleeding soon.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

Some people have this problem. The hair is not as dense to attract the colour and it comes out. Next time I would recommend going to the hairdresser and getting it done.

It could also be that the quality of the product was not very good.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

You should clean your face first at the sink and use eye makeup remover or pads. Then take a shower.

If you don't like the product maybe you can return it.

SORRY I THOUGHT YOU MEANT MASCARA. CALL THE 800 NUMBER ON THE BOX. IT SHOULDN'T RUN LIKE THAT. IT SURE SOUNDS BLACK.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

If it is just a rinse then it probably will be like that. If it is permanent colour then It should settle within another 2 -3 washes - put conditioner in hair and leave for 5 minutes this should help - you can go and buy colour lock products that help lock in the colour also

good luck

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

It's just bleeding and it could possibly always bleed a little when you shampoo.

Just keep shampooing it until it comes out.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

I wish I knew what to do for you right now. I don't...sorry. But I can give you advice for the future. This is from my personal experience.

For future reference, get your hair dyed professionally. I know it is a little more expensive, but totally worth it. I dye my hair a lot and now it is so dry. I learned that box dyes (the ones you can buy from the drug store) have 40% Ammonia (very bad for your hair) and the professional dyes have only 4%. I ha d a bad incident this summer and I decided to dye my hair back to it's natural color so that I won't have to re-dye it anytime soon. My goal is to revive my hair back to its normal lustrous self.

Good luck.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

this is normal i am a hairdresser.... black is a very concentrated color. the purple pigment is just the black rinsing off the hair which is normal all hair color washs out a lil black happens to look purple when it does. it will eventually stop ... if u dont mind losin some of the black color then wash with shampoo and a lil dish soap it will remove some of left over residue but i might also lighten it a lil . if u wanna preserve the black start shampooing with professional color care shampoo. .

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

DUHHHHHHHHH! idiot get a new shampoo. not trying to be rude but thats obvious.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

Wow. i think horse crazy is a little tired maybe? I love it when people say "not to be rude." and then be complete asssholes.DUH

Anyway, i think you are just going to have to wait about a week for it to go away. Some shampoos will really clean out a lot but you dont want to keep washing your hair cuz it dries it out. The excess die is usually caused by using too much color, but it could also be that your hair may have had product in it, and the die didnt attach.

Anyway, black hair is hot!

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

This has nothing to do with the shampoo you're using. Has everything to do with the color you used. (not the brand)

Your hair pulled the hair color. Thats all. If you're hair was a bit dry before you colored it, your hair pulled in all that color. Now, its letting go some of it. Your hair is what is called:

"oversaturated".

Black is the hardest color to 'get rid of' once it's in your hair.

Just be patient. It'll go away in a few days and stop bleeding color when the saturation has diminished. Don't panic tho. Its completely normal. If your hair starts separating when you brush it, you may have to get rid of some of the saturation. You can do this by using a clarifying shampoo a few times. It will help correct the saturation level.

Hope this helps sweety!

got more questions?

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

I am a hairdresser. A quick fix to lock in color is to rinse it with white vinegar, then wash and condition.

I used loreal feria BLACK 2 days ago and i need help?

it is normal and will eventually stop.

i will tell you not to ever try and strip that out of your hair yourself or in a salon. you are stuck with it! you will have to let it grow out. i have spent many hours trying to pull this color out of someones hair and it is not possable.

Does anyone know if the Loreal Chunking highlights work?

I have dark brown hair and want to add red chunk highlights. My first plan was to use Manic Panic Red hair cream but I am just unsure if using that would get me the color I desire. Any ideas?

Does anyone know if the Loreal Chunking highlights work?

They all work...being on the dark side you should do a test strand and see how long it take to come up the color you want. Being dark you will undoubtedly come up a red color. The trick is the timing....do a strand test, and use a timer.

Does anyone know if the Loreal Chunking highlights work?

I am a hairdresser and I have fixed more of those do it yourself highlights. They end up bleeding and spreading. I would go to a local salon and get it there. highlights can be hard to do yourself.

Does anyone know if the Loreal Chunking highlights work?

I agree with Victoria..although I am not a hairstylist, I have been using dye for a long time. I have used those chunking highlights, and if you do it very carefully you might get one or two really good streaks, but for the most part, the dye doesn't stay inside the comb, and causes the dye to get everywhere.

So, in my opinion, i would go to a hair salon. =]

Does anyone know if the Loreal Chunking highlights work?

Being a hairdresser there is no telling how many people have sought professional help after using those at home kits. I would start off with a professiolnal help. its cheaper to get it done right than to have to go back and have them fix it.

Does anyone know if the Loreal Chunking highlights work?

yeah go to a professional. spring for the money! You will have a mes on your hands if you dont know what you are doing!!!! It is not just about buying a box off of the shelf.

Is Loreal Natural Match a metallic dye??

I dyed my hair dark and now I want to go back blonde but I need to know if I am going to have to jump hurdles in the long process of going back to a lighter color... I heard that feria coloring is a metallic dye that is really hard to dye over and seeing as Natural Match is the same brand, I just want to know if it is composed of the same materials. Thanks!

Is Loreal Natural Match a metallic dye??

OK, first things first never try this at home!! If you would prefer to save money then you can have your hair corrected at a salon training night where junior stylists will cut, colour and style your hair for either nothing or a much-discounted price than you would normally pay. To go from dark brown to blonde again you have a choice of two options; your hair will either need to be stripped and then dyed or highlighted several times with bleach. I suggest you find a good salon and have your hair done there. You will not be able to go a lighter shade of blonde such as platinum right away; it will take several trips to the hairdressers. Hope I helped! Sara x

Is Loreal Natural Match a metallic dye??

it most likely is. any box hair color usually contains metallic dyes in them. metallic dyes are very hard to remove or color over so be careful.

My hair is currently a really dark brown, almost black....?

im looking to go blonde, i was wondering which is better, "Born Blonde" (clarol) or "Blondissima" (loreal). both say you can go blonde if your starting color is dark brown/black (dyed or natural, mine is dyed). Please dont say " go to a salon" its too expensive.

thanks lots!!

My hair is currently a really dark brown, almost black....?

i like "born blonde"

Has anyone used loreal natural match in dark brown?

they have it in cool, warm and natural i was thinking about trying the dark brown natural, has anyone tried this and if so did it come out well did it dry your hair or anything? also i want my hair to be almost black but was told to use the dark brown to achieve that color so hat color did u get? thanks so much! ill pick a best answer!

Has anyone used loreal natural match in dark brown?

no i have not used it because a friend used it and it was hard to remove the color, but if you have no problem with taht you can use it it is a very good product have a nice day

Has anyone used loreal natural match in dark brown?

No it makes your hair be a nice natural color and the first few days it may be alil dry but it gets better quick with the conditioner. I used a combination of Aussie,Herbal essences, and the brand conditioner to help with the frizzyness and it was better in abut 3 days. Now if your going dark it will never be the same again, and it's pretty much impossible to dye it light again. So be prepared for the change because you won't be able to change for a Long time.

What's better clairol's perfect 10 or loreal superior preference?

i want to dye my hair brunette (again) but I can't decide on which one to use. I need one that will last longer without fading, this whole hair dye thing is startting to become a tedious thing, for my color fades so often. p.s. I am dying my hair darker. pss. I don't have any gray hair and I don't want one that will damage my hair too much, or smell bad. Thank you. =D

What's better clairol's perfect 10 or loreal superior preference?

neither are good for your hair ! you need to go to the Salon and have a professional do it . Because store bought color will fade ,smell bad and damage your hair all at the same time

What's better clairol's perfect 10 or loreal superior preference?

first of all the ( store brands) will always fade faster and you will find your self doing it more often you need to get the stuff that professionals use i would suggest going to a beauty supply to get the better quality hair colors all though they still are not as good as salon hair color. But if you can't afford to go to a salon every four weeks like most of us can't i would get a color stay shampoo( like Paul Mitchel or biologe) from a salon to make your color last longer

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

Im 15 i need i want to get a new look for the summer! im going to get layers and dye my hair. So which do i do first? Im going to put light brown highlights in my hair and red brown streaks too. Do i dye my hair first or cut it first? We are not going to a hairstylest for her to color my hair only for the haircut i want my hair to look like this http://us.lorealprofessionnel.com/_en/_u... so what hair highlights is the closest to this? i have dark brown hair pic of me %26gt; http://360.yahoo.com/profile-tbWlQOghcrW...

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

Get the cut then the color. I would let a stylist do the color too.

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

cut it first!!! because you may want to dye your hair were it's on the edges or something like that. trust me, cut it first!

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

dye it and then cut it.

it will keep your new good ends for getting ruined

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

Dye it and then cut it. That way you can cut your hair around the way you dyed it because it won't always turn out the same.

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

You dye your hair first and then cut it so you know that your ends are evenly dyed.

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

cut it then dye it so you don't waste dye and you can get more dye in for a better look.

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

well my mom is actully a hairdresser and she recomends coloring and then cutting! but its your hair and you need 2 feel good about your dission. you could also go talk to some hair dressers! or go look at some hair hair magazines they usually have techniques for popular summer hair or get a hair cut u like cut it out and show it to your hair dresser (inclouding the color u want). and are just some of the things i could do!

if u look at the link it kinda looks like the color u want!

Help me!!!!!!!!!!!?

Cut it first and then dye it. Once you have the style cut into your hair you will know better where the high lights should be placed. Hope you get what I mean. Good luck and hope your hair turns out fab.

I dyed my hair medium/dirty blonde and now it looks greyish?

My starting color was a very light blonde..I had used loreal natural match- light natural blonde. Then I decided I wanted to go back to my natural color which is dark blonde, so I used Loreal Preference-medium blonde. it didnt go green or anything but I find it looks a little grey and very dull. Anyone have any suggestions on what I can do to fix it? I was thinking trying a dye with golden tones to brighten it up a bit but I dont want it going yellow or orange.

I dyed my hair medium/dirty blonde and now it looks greyish?

Good thinking, there is a risk of turning too yellow or orange with a color. A toner is another option, it's like color but not as strong. Your best bet is to try a color depositing shampoo in gold. Shampoo with it daily until your hair reaches your desired shade, then just use it occasionally for maintenance.Tressa Watercolors makes a great one. It has several golden tones to choose from, is moisturizing, and gentle enough for daily use.

I dyed my hair medium/dirty blonde and now it looks greyish?

If you don't mind the color too much, you could brighten it up by using frost and glow. I dye my hair medium brown, use frost and glow, and the highlights come out a beautiful blonde. It never turns orange...... that would only happen if you don't leave the solution on long enough.

I dyed my hair medium/dirty blonde and now it looks greyish?

yeah that happend to me, and everyone seemed to want to let me know they noticed it!! go see a proffesional to fix it for ya..

I want a good temporary dye. Know any?

I want a good temporary dye. Know any?

Preference, by Loreal

Who has tried this before?

Have you ever tried the Loreal Color Pulse Mousse? I am trying the purple to see how good it is with my brown hair... is it good?

Who has tried this before?

YES!!! It's excellent!I , in fact, used this just theother day! The purple, chilled plum, I have used on my whole head before, but this time i highlighted. highlighting only works on light light brown. like mousy brown or lighter to blonde. Your hair is brown, so I suggest whole head. Heres a tip: if it gets on your forehead/skin, wipe it off with a damp washcloth and a little shampoo. good luck!

Who has tried this before?

awesome i tried it last week and then a guy actually broke up with his girlfriend and started making out w/ me!!!

I can't find it!!!!! I'M SOOO FRUSTRATED!!!?

I want to get Loreal Color Pulse in the chilled plum color. So, today I went to 4 different stores and even called some and they didn't have it! I went to Rite Aid, Walgreens, Drug Fair, and K-mart. And I called CVS and another Walgreens and all of them didn't have it!!! Where can I get it? Or am I looking in the wrong section? I'm looking in the hair dye section.

HELP!!!!

Thanks.

I can't find it!!!!! I'M SOOO FRUSTRATED!!!?

target. u didnt try that

I can't find it!!!!! I'M SOOO FRUSTRATED!!!?

go to walmart they have everything!!!! either that or check ebay they have everything as well haha

I can't find it!!!!! I'M SOOO FRUSTRATED!!!?

I can't find it!!!!! I'M SOOO FRUSTRATED!!!?

try Utla...depending on where you live? They are a cosmetics store like sephora..

I can't find it!!!!! I'M SOOO FRUSTRATED!!!?

just checked amazon.com - they have it for 6.29 +shipping

i always check there because they DO have everything. i put the link below but not sure if it will work out so just type in loreal color pulse and they all come up. good luck!

http://www.amazon.com/Color-Pulse-Loreal...

I can't find it!!!!! I'M SOOO FRUSTRATED!!!?

The walgreens i work at stoped carrying the loreal pulse. sorry but u may have to call the loreal company and ask them if they even still make it. It may be something they discontinued.

Clairol natural instincts?

now that everyone told me not to use the loreal color pulse, i was thinking about using clairol natural instincts because it's non-permanent

i have very dark brown/black, thick hair

i was thinking about using Roasted Chest nut or Hazel nut, do you think it will turn out okay? Should i go for the lighter color just in case it turns out to be darker?

It's going to be my first time dying my hair, can you give me some tips? please don't tell me to go to the salon because i don't have that kind of money haha

Clairol natural instincts?

my sister's about to dye half her hair black with natural instincts, which we've heard good reviews for. i'll update you when she does it!

edit: she did it today at a friend's house. it looks great! it made her hair really gorgeous, thick, and shiny, and there was no problem with the color. i definitely recommend it!

Is it okay to dye it again?

on Friday, I used the loreal color pulse mousse in a colour that barely had an effect on my hair so i bought a new lighter that will for sure have an impact, but is it okay to use it again so soon?( today's sunday)

Is it okay to dye it again?

its fine if you dont have heavily damaged hair.

i've stripped my hair and dyed it twice in the SAME DAY, which i know is a HUGE NO NO, but i had no problems.

=]

Is it okay to dye it again?

It is okay but it is going to dry your hair out, possibly severley. Suggest conditioning it well for the next couple of weeks, then if you must, try it again.

Is it okay to dye it again?

it's okay, best of luck. have fun ! %26amp; good luck.

How do i get back to my previous colour?

My previous hair color which I loved and adored was brown with highlights, I went for a change and got red, but its been 3 months now and I want to go back to, my brown hair and hightlights, I was thinking about just getting a box of loreal, brown in the Pharmacy/supermarket and then going to have the highlights in the salon, any recommendations

How do i get back to my previous colour?

Um, once you go another colour, you can never get your exact hair colour you had before, and your eyebrows look all jacked up

How do i get back to my previous colour?

There are products you can buy which are made to remove or strip the hair of all colour provided there was no bleach involved. Then you can start again as previously. A good hairdresser could certainly advise you on these products.

How do i get back to my previous colour?

Go to a hairsylist. DO NOT strip your hair. It is near impossible to get color to go back into hair that has been bleached. I had my hair highlighted blond for about a year. It took 3 dye jobs to finally get my hair back to its normal color.

How do i get back to my previous colour?

red is very hard to cover, you should find a salon that specializes in color and color correction, if you do it yourself and mess it up, it can cost alot more.

What do i do to my hairr? dye help?

my natural hair color is a dark dark brown and as of right now i have it like a light brown but it hits the reds... and i dont like that i dont want it to be reddish i want it to be like this color tyra banks has..

http://www.aolcdn.com/ch_bv/tyra-banks-3...

its not red at all..

what hair dye should i use?

i always buy hair dye from sally beauty supply but it always turns reddd....

and now im starting to use Loreal;s Natural match but idk ..... what is best??

for my haircolor so it wont turn red.?

withouht bleaching tho. I WANT MY HAIR LIKE AN ASHY COLOR

What do i do to my hairr? dye help?

buy a ash based color.

What do i do to my hairr? dye help?

it says image can not be found. More then likely you will need to see a stylist. You could try using toner on it something with a violet base.

What do i do to my hairr? dye help?

The same thing happened to me.

I have natural dark brown hair when I went to a lighter brown it had sort of a reddish glow. My hair professional did it and she said that I had original red in my hair that was not showing. My guess is that you had red in your hair that you never saw (just like me). There really is no way to correct this with out bleach. My hair eventually faded and now there is basically no red. My hair professional gave me a shampoo fader that worked really good. I am not sure if you could find that in stores but you might want to check with a professional hair supply store and tell them you need something to fade your color. Or if you have a hair stylist you could ask them next time you go in.

Hope I helped and good luck! =]

What do i do to my hairr? dye help?

I know what you mean. If you want to do it at home, I suggest using L'Oreal Paris natural match in 6W, since it will turn into a golden brown color without going red, and similar to tyra's! To keep the color from fading(and potentially turning red), use Matrix Memory Rich Brunettes Color enhancing foam conditioner one a week after you shampoo for five minutes! hope ive helped and good luck!

What do i do to my hairr? dye help?

All of the answers are incorrect. Your natural hair (the hair that has no chemicals) will take color differently than the hair that has previous color on it. How to achieve what you want depends on many factors.

There are colors that will get dark hair color to a medium brown with out the red tones BUT the color only works on virgirn hair (hair with no chemicals) and fine hair types. Once you have put artificial hair color on your hair you must use bleach to get the results you want.

Dark hair color must always be highlighted with bleach and hair that has artificial hair color will only lighten with bleach. Bleach is not harmful to the hair, but when used incorrectly it will damage the hair.

Hair Color can only lighten 2-3 levels lighter than the natural level and the darker the natural hair color that number can be even less. Putting Hair Color over previously colored hair will result in damaged hair and virtually no color change. Hair Color cannot lighten previously colored hair.

All hair lightens the same (brown to red brown to red to red orange to orange to yellow orange to yellow) the difference between a person with dark hair versus light hair is where they start in the lightening process. The darker hair starts in the red tones, while the light hair comes into the process at the orange tones.

If your hair is dark you must use bleach to lighten your hair past red/orange.

Step 1 - Understand what your hair can have and what it has currently. You can't have Tyra Banks hair color unless you have her hair type (Natural Texture, Color, Density, etc.). The color that you are referring to that she has is artificial hair, so having that color is only possible from a weave which is what she has.

Your hair type can only achieve what your hair type can. In addition your current condition also dictates what can be done. If your hair is too fragile to do the color that you can do, then you will have to condition and wait.

Step 2 - If it閳ユ獨 right for your hair

If your hair is currently light enough but too brassy-

-Highlight the majority of the head in a fine weave (Only lighten the part of the hair shaft that is brassy or not light enough)

-While the highlight processes color the hair in-between with the level brown desired.

-After the highlight has processed (lighten to yellow) and the color has toned/darkened in between the foils

-Wash hair

-Tone packets with one level lighter than the background color

If your hair is too dark

-You must remove the unnecessary pigment with a bleach wash

-Highlight the majority of the head in a fine weave (Only lighten the part of the hair shaft that is brassy or not light enough)

-While the highlight processes, color the hair in between with the level brown desired.

-After the highlight has processed (lighten to yellow) and the color has toned/darkened in between the foils

-Wash hair

-Tone packets with one level lighter than the background color

Making dark hair a beautiful brown is possible but you will need a well trained stylist and a good home maintenance when finished. The most important thing to remember is to do what is best for your hair and hair type. Your hair will look its best when you stay within its boundries.

Please help me!!?

The best shampoo you could get it the Kerastase brand, the purple bottles that are specific for coloured hair. The Kerastase Brand is one of the number one brands used in hair-dressing salons everywhere. That's where you will find it. I buy my Kerastase products at my hair-dresser's only! All the supermarket brands are trash.

Good luck.

A stylist question?

Do stylists really not know ANYTHING about the at home hair color lines on the market? Everytime I've brought up Loreal Colorspa or Natural Instincts to ANY stylist I have ever gone to, they all act like they wouldn't know a Clairol or Loreal product if it slapped them upside the head. If they need to know what product the client has been using on their hair, shouldn't they be properly educated about the store lines available?

A stylist question?

yes they should. i always know what brands work and the chemicals involved. it could be dangerous if you dont.

A stylist question?

First, they deal with salon products so they might not know anything about at home color treatments. But then again, they might just want you to switch to the stuff they sell.

Can a brunette go blonde???

my natural hair color is medium brown, well iv always wanted to go 2 a dirty blonde color for years now.so I went to go get it professionally done in December and after of hours sitting there it ended up a strawberry blonde color more red ( I dunno if it was because she mixed to different blondes together)...so few days later I just said screw everything and just go back to a brown color, I think I got light ash brown from loreal....but then in the sun I noticed I have red tones in my hair (which i dont want) and everything so I figured I would give blonde another try but reading up on brunettes going blonde from what other people are saying its seems to me its freggin impossible to go blond with no orange tone or red tone or whatever, so right now I still have the light ash brown color but I frosted it so its kinda blonde but not the blonde I want, so should I just keep highlighting for a while until it gets blonde enough to dye with no problems or am I just wasting my time?

Can a brunette go blonde???

first of all dont dont dont bleach it....that wrecks the hair and its so hard to get it to a nice blonde...what i would suggest is grab a darker blonde thats about 2 - 3 shades lighter then your color now. that should lighten it enough then in a few weeks go lighter. its a process but eventually you should get the desired color.

Can a brunette go blonde???

Good luck that stuff stinks.

Can a brunette go blonde???

its really hard to get a blonde without any orange tones in it at all

Can a brunette go blonde???

I'm not exactly sure what kind of blonde you're going for, but a brunette really can't go totally blonde without bleach. Not all bleach will turn your hair orange. That only happens if you don't leave it in long enough. You can only bleach it if your going to bleach it all the way. Then you go back and tone the hair or dye it the color you want. (I'm assuming you don't want it all bleach blonde) But I really don't suggest doing this because bleaching is SOOOOOO bad for your hair. It completly ruins the texture. So, good luck!

Can a brunette go blonde???

Okay I'm not pro and I'm a boy but =%26gt;

I have brown hair and I bleach it every couple of months and it's not lightbulb blonde but I guess it's not natural...

But I still think its a nice blonde.

But then I'm not fussy.

Oh yeah its streaked not full, so the brown comes through and you get tones and it makes the blonde not so bright....

Need to get it done again actually D:

But yeah it might ruin your hair if you do it to much idk.

Can a brunette go blonde???

You can go blond but it will be a constant workout to keep it so.

You actually have to bleach your hair out a few times before applying the desired blond. I know you don't want someone to tell you to go to a professional but it sounds like the one you went to didn't actually listen to what you wanted. After your hair has been bleached and essentially stripped of all colour, you will want to have blond, blond highlights, and low lights that add all the dimensions of a natural blond. It gets expensive but if you want it to look natural and not freaky it's necessary to have these dimensions to your hair. Bear in mind that print ads and TV personalities are not good examples because over dyed hair looks better on camera than in real life.

Make sure you do your eyebrows too!

Alternatively you could use sun-in, which you can find at almost any drugstore. This stuff works but will give you that bleached by the sun look rather than you looking like you were born a blond.

Can a brunette go blonde???

yeah you can but be carful it dosent go ginger. I get mine done at hairdressers. its safer that way. its when i got a dyye from a shop and it made my roots go ginger. so get it done at a salon.

Can a brunette go blonde???

You should be able to. There are different "volumes" of peroxide. 10 on the low scale to 40 on the high scale. They can be bought at beauty supply stores. There are also accelerant powders and "redout" liquids.

Question is how well your hair can handle it without falling apart.

How about experimenting with cutoff locks of hair?

Can a brunette go blonde???

I'm naturally blond and I went brunette last winter. When I did, the hairdresser told me that to go back to blond I would have to have it bleached at the salon. When I wanted to be blond again I decided I didn't want to pay for the bleaching (which was over $125 at my salon) and I bought 3 different brands of store color to test them out on my hair so I could figure out what color I'd get (definetely do this every time ... cut a bit off the ends in the back somewhere that is underneath so you can't tell and then mix the color and test it out, rinse it and dry it to see what color you get ... I've had my hair turn gray, purple, and fire red and then its just expensive to fix and very damaged ... so cut a piece off and test it first!). Well my hair was a medium brown color and none of the blond dyes got it to blond. Herbal Essences Color Me Vibrant in the light natural blond made it the lightest, but it was more of a light brown than a blond. And it had to be left in for 45 minutes so the pieces I tested looked really dried out. Revlon Colorsilk in the same shade barely made a difference, and I think the other one I used was Nice and Easy and that also did nothing. So I had to have it bleached. My hair dresser toned it with a lighter blonde and like a honey color so it didn't look that fake. If you put the store color all over your hair and it doesn't change it you'll be drying out your hair for no reason, and if the color you get is too orange you'll have to fix it at a salon anyway. Fixing it with store color a day or two after you just put another shade in is like a guessing game. Save yourself the trouble, test the color on a few stands of your hair, and if it doesn't work, go to the salon. Good luck!

If you find a blond store shade that gets it back to blond, please post it so I can get that one next time.

Hair highlights?

is there anyone on here who has used'loreal paris highlights? in the color--iced champagne? what color did the highlights get when you left them on for 30 min.?

Hair highlights?

tooooo light

Hair highlights?

I didn't use that exact one, but I'm pretty sure it already depends on what color your hair is, or if it is dyed or not.

Layering 2 semi-permanent colors?

I have dark blonde hair with sun-lightened ends. Can I use a light brown semi-permanent color and then put a pink/red semi-permanent color (like Loreal Color Pulse) over it? The Color Pulse color I want to use can only be put on light brown or darker hair. I only want the pink/red on sections of my hair, not all over.

Layering 2 semi-permanent colors?

Natural color, and artificial or semi-perm / perm are two different things. The reason being that natural hair color reflects light differently. However you could test it out by doing a test on a piece of cut hair. Take it from a spot you won't notice though and do the two colors seperately as you would on your head. And process the same way. You can mix it as you would the whole bottle or tube only just using a small bit and equal parts of the developer that comes with the color/ or you bought to go with it as I am not familiar with 'pulse'.

My haircolor keeps changing!?

Around 4 years ago I dyed by hair blonde (I did not bleach it). I then colored it light brown around 2 years ago. A year ago I dyed it dark brown. The problem is, my hair keeps on getting lighter! It is now orangy-blondish and I've tried several times to dye it simply brown. I am not a lot in the sun so I don't think its bleached by the sun but it might be the water.. Every time I shower it gets lighter and it is clearly visible. People keep on commenting that I always have a different hair color. Anyone know how I can prevent the color from fading when I wash it and a color which REALLY sticks? My hair has always been dyed professionally using Loreal.. Please someone help me who is a hairdresser or who has had the same problem!

My haircolor keeps changing!?

I can't help, but either way, it is better than being bald!

My haircolor keeps changing!?

It gets orangey because it was not applied properly. Your hair is now very damaged. You need professional help!

My haircolor keeps changing!?

it could be the sunlight, everytime i go out in the sun my hair gets lighter

My haircolor keeps changing!?

Next It will all fall out and you can wear a wig that will always be the same color.

My haircolor keeps changing!?

LOL i went through this!!! i once dyed my hair blonde, then dark brown but the dark brown would wash out and i was left with red hair!!! ahhhhh!! so now after years and years of red hair i dyed my hair deep brown and finally its actually stayed dark brown!!

for you I would suggest dying it medium ash brown, that will take all the left over color out of your hair.

My haircolor keeps changing!?

Yes, that happens. Colored hair will always fade until your hair grows out. Anything you put on it to darken it will look O.K. for a few weeks but gradually fade and turn hair an unusual shade from the product that did stay. It's a no win battle and chemically coloring your hair, although dark is less harmful, will cause damage over time. Been there.

My haircolor keeps changing!?

Well, it sounds like there are several factors at work here. My first guess would be that you are not using the right kind of shampoo. Are you using one for color treated hair? Shampoo for normal hair on color treated hair will cause it the color to fade fast.(styling products too!) It could also be the type of water where you live (hard, soft water.. the minerals in the water can cause havoc on color treated hair) If the water type is a factor then it becomes even more important that you use a good shampoo to protect the color.

Second.. is your hair long? Have you had several good cuts to get rid of the hair that has seen its fair share of color? If not, the longer hair on the bottom is going to grab darker each time you color, giving the "newer" hair towards the top a lighter appearance.

Third..it sounds like its time to get a new stylist with some new color. There are lots of wonderful brands of colors out there, and to be honest with you, not many professionals use Loreal in the salon anymore. If you have been going to the same one who keeps using the same product on you, then shame on them for not taking care of you!

So cheer up..head to a brand new salon talk to a color specialist, get it fixed right and use good shampoos and conditioners on it!

I forget the brand?

i member a few years ago in magazines and probably the tv too they had advertisments for on permanent hair dye i think it was loreal, and it was more targeted to teenagers..the advertisement had a teenage girl with a different hair color and to the side it had all the color dyes available and i think the background was like red/orange...does anyone know if this product is still available and what the product/ brand is!! thank you

I forget the brand?

idk srry!!

Will black hair dye "stain" my hair after it washes out?

i'm thinking of using a 24-wash color like clairol or loreal, but what brand would you recommend?

Will black hair dye "stain" my hair after it washes out?

If you get a temporary dye, it may not completely come out. It may take time depending on what kind you got and what your natural hair color is.

I dyed my hair jet black in high school (it was very light brown) and it was hell trying to get it back to the natural color. It cost me over $70.00 at a salon and I ended up with stripes of blonde and black in my hair. Make sure this is the color you really want (if it's a permanent dye)..

If you do use permanent and your hair is light, keep in mind that you have to keep touching up your roots, otherwise it looks terrible!! Unless you have it professionally dyed, its difficult to do on your own. I know I ended up with dye on my skin and it was very hard to get out.. I had to walk around like a moron for about a week until it eventually faded out..

Will black hair dye "stain" my hair after it washes out?

i've never been able to find a semi-permanent black. most black dyes are permanent, and in my light brown hair, the black fades out to an auburn/purple color.

Will black hair dye "stain" my hair after it washes out?

Yes it will deposit color on your hair, but it will eventually fade- be sure to use something that is amonia free!

Will black hair dye "stain" my hair after it washes out?

If it is more than 2 shades darker than your natural hair it definitely will leave a little something behind.

Will black hair dye "stain" my hair after it washes out?

i think loreal is much better then clairol n it works.

Will black hair dye "stain" my hair after it washes out?

Yes! I am blonde and have had a hell of a time getting rid of darker temporary colors. I even used those spray on hair colors on Halloween, and they stained my hair.

I dyed my hair black once, and was stuck with the skunk look as my hair grew out. Stripping the color wasn't 100% effective and I ended up looking like a calico cat.

I don't recommend it.

Strip or recolor black dye?

I colored my hair black a week ago to cover up a bad dye job done by a salon. I really don't look good with black hair because I am very fair skinned. I have been washing my hair in hot water and soaking it in the ion hair mask for chemically damaged hair. It has faded some but now it has a blue tint. I bought some color zap from sally's but also have some loreal ash brown thats made for dark hair. I really don't want to strip it unless I have too so I want to use the loreal for dark hair but I have heard that even dyes for dark hair won't work unless it's natural. Does anyone know if this will work? I hate to try the dye and then still have to strip it, but I don't want to strip it if just dying it would work.

Strip or recolor black dye?

I've spent years working in salons. I can promise you that dying over black (or any dark color) to change the color is absolutely 100% impossible. It can actually make it worse since you simply end up with layer upon layer of very dark pigment embedded into the hair.

The color will need to be either grown out or stripped and recolored. I understand if you're feeling a little wary of salons right now, but I highly recommend that you have this done professionally. If you're not sure where to go, try asking around to find a trustworthy colorist. I'm not sure where you live, but I can tell you colorists at Mario Tricoci or Elizabeth Arden get extensive extra training above what's required by law for a license.

Best of luck!!

Strip or recolor black dye?

You will not be able to change the color of your hair by putting a lighter color on it. You would have to lighten it first and then put a color that is darker over it. I have black hair too, and I would never attempt this myself, you should have it professionally done, or stick with the black hair

Strip or recolor black dye?

The brown won't show up over the black...so don't waste your time! You can't dye over black hair, you'll have to strip it if you want to go lighter. I know you don't want to hear that (I've been there and I know what a pain in the *** that is! not to mention the damage it does to your hair!) but that's the only way you'll get brown. Have you tried washing with dandruff shampoos? These are notorious for fading dyed hair. I dyed my hair black (with a blue base) a few months ago and was still using this Tresemme Moisture Rich (I think that's what its called--its for damaged hair) Shampoo and the damn thing washed out most of the blue from my hair. I turned a dark brown later that week...instead of the lovely natural black shade I had dyed it :o( But since you're wanting to get rid of the blue tones you might want to check it out. Here is my advice if you want to go ahead and strip it: If you're not afraid to screw up your hair then go ahead and attempt this yourself if you feel up to it. But if you're not open to mistakes, go to a reputable salon. Like the girl above me said, ask around and find out which salon is most recommended. If you want to go ahead and try it yourself and want some tips then feel free to email me! I've gone from midnight black to bleach blonde a few times myself ;)

At home hair dye gone wrong.. now emo colored.. HELP!?

back in february I was curious to see what my hair would look lighter (im indian and have smooth black hair) and went to a dingy salon who highlighted my hair dirty blonde instead of the brown I asked for. I lived with it but since the roots looked horrible I got an at-home Loreal Feria kit in normal black. I did it and it turned out emo and very fake looking.

when is the earliest I can dye my hair again- and would it be wise to dye it the 'soft black' , will that even show up?

I don't want to remove this black and have the old blonde highlights show up so I'm not sure what direction to take

please help!!!

At home hair dye gone wrong.. now emo colored.. HELP!?

Old blonde highlight won't show up, it is very hard to achieve even if you try. Don't worry about that.

If your hair is now black, it will stay black unless you remove some color. It is not possible to add any color to black. At-Home kits won't do it. If you want to go lighter, and going from black to dark brown is in fact going lighter, you will have to use a weak bleach, no way around it.

Have it done professionally before you ruined your hair some more. Those drug store brands don't go well on top of one another. You might end up with funny shade of green if you don't know what you're doing. Professional salon can re-dye right away if your scalp is in good condition (not scratched that is). It's best to wait like a week, it is easier on your hair.

If you're brave, you can use Quick Blue bleach with 20 volume developer. (Developer is ranged from 10 to 30, with 30 being the strongest bleach) If you have long hair, try it on a strand of hair that's most hidden from the view, like the one at the nape of your neck. If you are satisfied with the results, you can do the full head application.

At home hair dye gone wrong.. now emo colored.. HELP!?

go back to the salon and get it fix

At home hair dye gone wrong.. now emo colored.. HELP!?

For the future, try not to go with permanent and just longer lasting. It would have been easier if you had. So, you can find a better salon (are you near a city?) or you can try dying it a dark brownish...but I'm not knowledgable with the dying bit. Your best bet is another salon. GoOD LucK!

At home hair dye gone wrong.. now emo colored.. HELP!?

welcome to the world of corrective color! The best thing to do is go into your nearest salon and seek out the advice of a chemical specialist. Sometimes going back to a

"natural color" is not as easy as it seems. It is best to get a professional opinion, for the sake and health of your hair! Good Luck!

At home hair dye gone wrong.. now emo colored.. HELP!?

Go to the hair dressers. They fix mistakes too, not just do it.

At home hair dye gone wrong.. now emo colored.. HELP!?

some at home colouring kits will turn out like, 3 shades darker than stated on the box. u wouldn't want to re-dye it again since too much dyes will damaged ur locks and make it frizzy

but if u feel like it's really that bad then wait about 1 month before re-dyeing. use shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair and intensive hair mask twice a week

and rub a bit of olive oil every night before u sleep

this time, girl, go to a salon for touch-ups or get a dye in brown cos it might turn up darker

in the mean time, embrace ur new colour.. offset the blackness by using hair accessories in dull colours.

bright colour like fuschia or white will only acentuate the blackness

Hair Color Disasters: How To Recover

http://geethabeautytips.blogspot.com/200...

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

i am a teen and i found a really cool color purple(frosted plum) that i love!!! and it washes out in 10 washes garunteed! its a good brand and inuxpensive(loreal)its not realy that purple, its more dark brown with purple shine to it.my hair is already dark dark brown but parents say NO!!!PLEASE HELP!!!

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

wow that sounds like a really cool color! I'm a mom and my daughter has worn so many different colors I can't count. She's back to her original color and colors it on special occasions. I think that parents freak out because they think it's weird and they don't want the neighbors to think that their kids are strange. Just my theory. i color my hair too. my natural color is dark brown and I color it light golden brown. I've done that since my daughter was in high school. I just got tired of the same old color. I guess I'm a little different from some of the parents. your parents shouldn't worry because it's not permanent and it washes out in ten shampoos. if you can talk them into it, I say go for it!

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

omg im so with you i want to go blonde but my dad is like sorry i dont want you to ruin your hair but its my hair!!! do it anyway im gonna do mine on my birthday!

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

hey hey...yeah i'm in my 20's and still my mom freaks out when i talk about high lights! ha i guess they have thier reasons but maybe start out less drastic

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

well you could try to talk them into it. Try paying for it with your own money if your not already. Give them a good reason to let you do it. Try not to get in trouble but debate with them. Try to tell them something worse that could happen.

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

I never understood the reason why my parents wouldn't allow me to dye my hair either. Especially if it's the wash out kind. Got no help for you on this one. If I were your mom I'd let you. It's a part of self expression.

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

Your parents probably are proud of the way you are and u are a creation of them. Another reason it might be is they fear you rebeling???:S Try to bargin with them or ask for somethin worse then say well u'll satisfy with the non-permanent hair colour. Then there is always rebelion and just dye it anyways

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

well i cant help u there i asked my mom if i can get maroon highlights but she always says NO cause it will hurt my hair and it will start falling and going grey so i have to dye it everytime so i said i wont let my hair get that no way in hell so my advice no but if u really want to ask them if u can use something herbal it wont harm

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

Oh yeah i have heard of that stuff my bff uses it. it really is a good product.

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

kids mostly do a horrible job of coloring hair. it looks steaky, and stains everything your touch. then it grows out forever and leaves a "line" of colors. SO GHETTO

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

not all parents are against our kids getting their hair dye i have a son and when he was 10 years old i allowed him 2 get his hair done bright purple..there was alot of things i asked from him first one 2 wait in till school was out.2.make good grades a's and b's (before)3.and 2 allow my hair dresser 2 do it for him.i didnt want him doing it himself ..3.he had 2 agree 2 get it changed back 2 his regular hair color a week before school started but ever parent makes those choices and try talking 2 them about this dont take off when u start 2 hear something u dont want 2 hear dont yell we tend 2 get upsst and tune u out when that happens (or worst ground u) but i know u have heard this in till u r 18 u cant do it..my son thank goddness out grow getting this done ever summer and alot of differnt colors later. his dad was not happy about it (he is in the marine corp. and alot of that just isnt done) good luck

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

Sorry to say but your parents brought you into this world and are responsible for you until your of legal age. When you turn 18 there isn't a thing they can do about it. You just need to chill out till then and then do what you want to do! I know that's not what you want to hear but if i did that then I wouldn't be helping you. Good Luck and Patience!

Parents!why are parents so against their kids dyeing their hair.?

This is a great question...

and important one

As a busy hair stylist and Colorist in malibu California (and the mom of 2 girls) I spent years trying to teach parents that the least harmful thing a child can do to their body is "color" their hair. It is 100% fully reversible...(you can cut it off, etc) ... and if hair color is the worst thing they ever have to worry about they should consider themselves lucky....

There is just a lot worse things than hair color.

As a teen every child has a phase they go thru where they want to express themself. . . its part of growing up.... some pierce their ears, some color their hair. some get tattoos, some do a lot worse things....

IT IS PART OF GROWING UP, and is fully reversible....

Tell them you are using "semi-permanent color" which means it shampoos out over time....

truthfully...i would highly NOT reccomend any brand that comes in a box.... not because I care about anything other than YOUR HAIR....

those box kits ruin hair...

if your hair is dark brown....just buy some manic panic in purple and put that on a 1 inch piece underneath...at least this way it won't ruin your hair....

I don't understand parents that say something as silly as that, maybe read them what I wrote if you think they might listen....I did the color of thousands of kids your age and about once a month i would come across this same problem, some i could get to understand my theory...some I couldn't . . . .

Its just an artistic expression, that's all......
